How to take a clean tweet screenshot
Crop to the post itself, and leave out notifications, tabs and other people's replies you do not need.
On iPhone
- Open the post. Press the side button and volume up together (on models with a Home button, the side button and Home).
- Tap the preview that appears in the corner, drag the crop handles to the post, then tap Done.
- Come back to this page, tap Upload a screenshot and choose it from your photos.
On Android
- Open the post. On most phones, press power and volume down together.
- Tap the preview to crop it to the post, then save.
- Come back to this page, tap Upload a screenshot and choose it from your gallery.
On a computer
- On a Mac, press Shift+Command+4 and drag around the post. Add Control to the shortcut to copy it instead of saving a file. On Windows, press Windows+Shift+S and drag around the post; it is copied.
- Click the page and press Ctrl/Cmd+V to paste. You can also drop the saved file onto the tool.
Sizes the tool offers
Under Canvas size you can pick Twitter 16:9, 1.91:1 (a wide link-preview shape), 16:9, or Auto. The full editor adds 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16. These set the shape of the image; the pixel size depends on your screenshot and the export scale (2x free, 4x with Pro). Platforms change their image rules, so check the current guidance for where you post.
Background ideas
- Put a light-mode post on a deep gradient such as Midnight, so the card stands out.
- Put a dark-mode post on a bright gradient such as Sunset or Fire for contrast.
- Use the same background across a thread or a series so the images look related.
- The full editor also has solid colors, custom gradients, your own background image and textures.
Privacy: it runs in your browser
Your screenshot is read and rendered by your own browser. It is not uploaded to Shotcraft's servers. We do collect basic usage events, such as that an export happened, but never the image. Read the privacy policy.
Before you share someone else's post
Credit the author, keep their handle visible, do not change the text, and respect the platform's terms and the author's rights. If you are unsure, ask them. Do not use a screenshot to put words in someone's mouth.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a tweet into an image?
Take a screenshot of the post on your phone or computer, then upload it here or paste it with Ctrl/Cmd+V. Shotcraft puts it on a gradient background with padding and a shadow, and you download the result as PNG, JPG or WebP.
What size should a tweet image be?
Shotcraft offers three landscape canvas ratios for this: Twitter 16:9, 1.91:1 and 16:9, plus Auto, which fits the canvas to your screenshot. Platforms change their image rules from time to time, so check the current guidance for where you are posting.
Can I paste the tweet link instead?
No. Shotcraft does not fetch posts from a link and does not build fake tweets. You bring a screenshot of the post, and Shotcraft makes it look good.
Is it OK to share a screenshot of someone's post?
Keep the author's name and handle visible so people can see who wrote it, do not edit the text, and link to the original post when you can. Posts can be protected by copyright and by the platform's terms, so when in doubt ask the author first. This is general guidance, not legal advice.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Tap Upload a screenshot and pick the image from your photos. Browsers that allow it also show a Paste from clipboard button. If your phone does not start a download, press and hold the exported image that appears under the buttons and choose Save.
Why is there a watermark?
Free exports are 2x with a small "Made with shotcraft.cloud" watermark in the corner. Pro ($12.00/mo) and Lifetime ($200.00 one time) remove the watermark and export at 4x.
